Let Go Of The Past to Reflect God In The Present

Every soul has a story and every story needs the Savior!

Would you consider yourself stubborn?   Are you aggressively independent?   Determined to fight, claw, and dig your way through life in hopes of finding something that can give you purpose; a greater understanding of yourself; or even a more defined grasp of what God has in store for you in the year 2016?

I tend to spend time each year reflecting, reevaluating, reinventing, and even resolving to do life better than the previous year.  How does one 'do life better' you might ask?  Well, I have found that it involves releasing my grasp on past events.  Events that, given the chance, can spring up even in the deepest recesses of my mind and heart.   Reminders that alert you as to who you really are; or how badly you have messed up your life; or even bombard you with words of self- doubt -- or thoughts of worthlessness.  When I ponder on my weaknesses or deficiencies, God is quick to remind me through the gentle whisper of His Spirit that is within me, that He has removed, forgotten, and forgiven me of my past.  He points me back to the Cross and the sacrifice He gave in the form of His son, Jesus.

An amazing song written by Mercy Me has wonderful lyrics that remind us that the Cross has made us flawless.  Here is the chorus:

No matter the bumps
No matter the bruises
No matter the scars
Still the truth is
The cross has made
The cross has made you flawless
No matter the hurt
Or how deep the wound is
No matter the pain
Still the truth is
The cross has made
The cross has made you flawless

What do you intend to do with the life that God has given to you?   The Apostle Paul reminds us in Ephesians 2 that God has given us a new life because of Jesus's sacrifice.  Read below and truly grab a hold of this passage and never let it go because it is a constant reminder that there is nothing in this world that can compare to the grace of God.

4 But God loves us deeply. He is full of mercy. 5 So He gave us new

life because of what Christ has done. He gave us life even when we

were dead in sin. God’s grace has saved you.  6 God raised us up with

Christ. He has seated us with him in his heavenly kingdom because we

belong to Christ Jesus.7 He has done it to show the riches of his grace

for all time to come. His grace can’t be compared with anything

that the blood of Jesus made this new life and new heart possible.

Ephesians 2:4-7

I want to live each day with the veil removed so my life will reflect God's glory.  God will never give up on us.  We will give up on ourselves before God would ever give up on us.   Imagine your life at the work place, or at home, or when you are out with friends or family and all that people see is the glory of God reflected in your life.  What a testimony of a God who redeems, a Heavenly Father who knows your name and because of Jesus Christ will adopt you into His family.

18 So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the

Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as

we are changed into his glorious image.

2 Corinthians 3:18

Maybe it is time to see yourself through the lens of Scripture and see what God sees when He looks at you.   You are His masterpiece.  He loves you more than you could possibly comprehend and yet through His infinite grace He makes it possible for us to have a relationship with Him and He will continue to add layer upon layer to the canvas of our lives -- His touch, His tender care, and His love that comes with no strings attached.

10 For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus,

so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

Ephesians 2:10
Less of me More of Him,
